Details of the initiative
The main goal of TUMO Bilbao-Bizkaia is to train Bizkaia youngsters in a 100% free manner in digital skills and creative technologies (STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). The project aims to promote youth talent, creativity and capacity for innovation by means of a cutting-edge international educational model, guaranteeing equality of opportunities and digital inclusion in the region.
The project is aimed at young people from Bizkaia of between 12 and 18 years of age. During its first year the centre will have the capacity to receive 1000 students per week, a figure which will increase to 1500 students from the second year onwards. Located in a cutting-edge venue in the Azkuna Zentroa – Alhóndiga Bilbao, it offers training courses based on TUMO’s own methodology, TUMO Path, which combines guided self-learning, practical workshops and project labs with support from professional experts.
The course programme covers technological and creative fields such as robotics, programming, video game development, graphic design, animation, cinema, photography and music, with plans to incorporate other advances fields in the future, such as 3D modelling and generative artificial intelligence from 2027 onwards. The initiative is supported by “la Caixa” Foundation, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Bilbao City Council.
