Details of the initiative
The main aim of the Bizkaia STEM Host project is to identify, support and connect final year international STEM students with the innovation and professional opportunities ecosystem in Bizkaia, fostering their links with the province through first-hand knowledge of flagship projects and academic placements in leading companies in the STEM sector.
The added value of the project:
- Strengthens the attraction and retention of STEM talent from an early stage.
- Connects in a structured manner universities and major leading companies, aligning their training with the real needs of the labour market.
- It facilitates the monitoring and engagement of a community already present in the province and with a valid administrative status, thereby reducing barriers to access.
- It contributes to the positioning of Bizkaia as a place of opportunities for international talent.
The participating universities, Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (EHU), Deusto University and Mondragon University play a key role in the design and development of the project, acting as a gateway to international STEM talent and as key players in providing academic support.
The leading companies in the STEM ecosystem will show-case the real-world technology projects which they are developing, highlighting their innovation capabilities and the high added value professional opportunities offered by the province.
Bilbao Metropoli 30 will act as the project coordinator, ensuring:
- Strategic alignment with Bizkaia with the talent.
- The articulation of the collaboration between the universities and the companies.
- The coherence of the regional narrative and the initiative’s metropolitan scope.
- The overall monitoring of the project and the systematization of the learning carried out.
